Parents As Partners
At Hughes Elementary we strive to have as much parent involvement as possible. We believe that parents play an extremely important role in their child's education. We hope to be able to partner with parents in order to provide each child with the best education possible.

Below are some resources that will help parents as we partner together.

Hughes Character Cabin/House Information 2018:

Our character trait for each six weeks in chronological order for the year is respect, responsibility, citizenship, caring, trustworthiness, and fairness. These traits may sound familiar because your child may be talking with you about how he/she is a member of one of the cabins that represent this trait. Each cabin also has an animal mascot. Early literacy is crucial to the success of all students. Please click on the link below to learn more about our phonics instruction and how you can help your child at home. There are sight words, root words, suffixes, and prefixes that you can practice with your child at home. Also, students are expected to read every night for at least twenty minutes to build vocabulary, fluency, and a love of reading. For younger readers, please read stories aloud to your children and ask them questions about the books that you are reading together.
